English Language Teaching
If your first language is not English, the ESOL International Young Learner Academy can help you improve your spoken and written language. To effectively support young ESOL learners the curriculum team has consistently raised standards, with "no areas for improvement" in the recent Ofsted inspection. Who are these courses for?
You may be a permanent UK resident, a refugee or you could be seeking asylum - whatever your starting point you will want to improve your spoken and written English. You may speak little or no English, or have little or no formal education in the UK system. We teach you to understand and speak the language better, so that you can go on and take other courses, or get a job.

At the ESOL International Young Learner Academy, our team of fully-qualified, dedicated staff promise a high standard of teaching and support. They are familiar with the range of issues which people from diverse cultures may face, and will help you find your way through whatever challenges you may face.
What would these courses qualify me to do?
Our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses will improve your chances of finding a job - especially with some courses being linked to job-related skills. Many of our English language students progress to other courses at College, both academic and vocational, and may go on to university
Can I combine English language study with other subjects?
Accounting and Bookkeeping, Childcare, Hairdressing, Health and Social Care, IT and Computing and Motor Vehicle Engineering may all be combined with English language study.
Are there any part-time courses available in this area?
The School of English Language Teaching also offers part-time study, including English as a Foreign Language (EFL). These courses are designed for people intending to return to their own country, and they can equip them to sit University of Cambridge internationally-recognised examinations (including First Certificate, Advanced and IELTS). EFL courses are accredited by The British Council and the College is a member of English UK. Details are available in our Part-Time Courses prospectus.
