Fees and Costs
Uxbridge College offers school leavers a wide range of qualifications that are designed to help you achieve your ambition, whether it is to win a place at university, get a job, climb the career ladder, or just enjoy the satisfaction of personal development.
College registration fees
All students aged 19 and over on full-time courses are required to pay the College registration fee regardless of whether any other fees are payable or not. The fee for 2010/11 is £30 and covers all courses.
Tuition fees
Tuition is FREE on most full-time courses for students aged 16-18 years old.
For students aged 19 and over, studying on a full-time course, tuition fees are payable. The tuition fee for 2010/11 was £1,370. If you are on a means-tested benefit or your primary learning aim is basic education or English for speakers of other languages, this fee may be waived. Documented evidence is required. For further information please contact the Information, Advice & Guidance team.
If a tuition fee is payable, this must be paid at the time of enrolment. Please remember that some courses run over a two year period, and the course fee is payable on an annual basis unless otherwise stated.
Material fees
All students regardless of age and status are required to pay the material fee for their course as applicable.
Examination fees
The College will pay the examination and validating body registration fees for students studying 12.5 or more course hours a week and who were under 19 years on 31 August in the year in which their study programme began, and who have been recommended by their tutor. Examination fees and registration fees are payable by all other students, including those entitled to remission of tuition fees. Examination fees are payable for re-sits of examinations.
International fees
Overseas Students (ie. non UK/EU residents) are required to pay the full cost of their tuition and all course fees are payable on an annual basis.
Please check with the Information, Advice & Guidance team on +44 (0)1895 853333 for more details.
Payment
Fees can be paid by cash, cheque with guarantee card number, postal order, Visa, MasterCard, or Delta. In some cases it is possible to pay by instalments. For further information, contact the Information, Advice & Guidance team.
Car parking
The College has parking on both sites and a charge is payable by all full-time students who wish to park their car in the College car parks. The fee for 2010/11 is £120 for full time students and £60 for part time students for the academic year. On payment of this charge, you will be issued with a permit which must be displayed in your windscreen. This permit entitles the holder to park in the car park but does not guarantee a parking space.
There is no charge for evening or Saturday students. There is a fee of £2.50 for replacement permits.
ID charges
All students pay £5 for their ID card, payable at enrolment. If ID cards are lost or stolen students will be required to pay a £10 replacement fee.
Fee Refunds
FULL TIME
The College will only refund fees in two instances:
- if the course is cancelled, when fees will be refunded in full, or
- if a student withdraws from a full-time course before the second week of the start of the course. In this case, the College will require notification in writing stating the student's enrolment number. If the withdrawal is for medical reasons a doctor's certificate is required.
In the case of withdrawals, course fees will be refunded, less the College registration fee and a £20 administration charge.
PART TIME
Should the College close a course due to insufficient numbers, a full refund of fees will be granted.
If you withdraw from your course, fee refunds will not be awarded from one week before the scheduled start date for most courses. For courses with a 'C' in the fee column, there can be a refund if the student gives notification of their withdrawal from a course before the second session. Students will be entitled to a refund or partial refund of the course fees paid less:
- a charge of the proportion of tuition hours delivered (at the date of the refund request) taken at a pro-rate of total course hours
- the College registration fee
- the I.D card fee
- the fee for any examinations already entered
- a £20 administration charge.
Other refund requests are made at the discretion of the relevant Curriculum Director.
