Aspire
Parents, carers and families are often the biggest influences on young people's life choices. However, the amount of information about education, especially higher and further and the many different options available, can sometimes be overwhelming.
Every year, Uxbridge College gives Year 6 pupils from primary schools all over Hillingdon Borough the opportunity to take part in an exciting range of activities designed to boost their interest in further and higher education.
Why Year 6? Research has shown that some children have already closed down their options in relation to Higher Education by the time they have reached secondary school, and it's a good time to raise their aspirations.
Uxbridge College along with its partners, (Hillingdon Borough, local primary schools, the University of Westminster, Thames Valley University and Brunel University) design Aspire with the following aims:
- To raise the aspirations of young people
- To increase confidence about moving on to secondary school
- To increase motivation to stay on in education after the age of 16 years
- To raise awareness of further/higher education with young people.
