Adults looking for work or considering a change of career can get help with a whole range of free and subsidised schemes and training courses.
Free advice is always on offer at Uxbridge College to help people choose the right full-time and part-time courses, and find out more about how to access to financial help with training and studying.

Job search and careers help
Uxbridge College offers a wide range of free information and advice about getting jobs - and getting back into work if you have been unemployed.
This includes:
- Support with job searches
- CV writing
- Links with local employers
- Helping arrange work placements
- Free and subsidised skills training.
Advice and information on courses and financial support
Drop in to either the Uxbridge or Hayes Campus between 9.00am and 5.00pm for more information about our courses, facilities and the support on offer. Evening appointments can also be arranged.
Uxbridge College has campuses in Park Road, Uxbridge, and in College Way, off Coldharbour Lane, Hayes.

Programmes for Unemployed People
Long term unemployed scheme - Accelerate
This scheme, run with Hillingdon Council, may be suitable for you if:
- You are long-term unemployed, have been raising a family, or have been made redundant.
- Need help with motivation and confidence as well as skills training.
- Need help identifying what kind of training might be suitable for you.

Gateway Heathrow 2012
Gateway Heathrow 2012 is a new European Social Fund programme led by London Borough of Hillingdon with training and support for the Hospitality and Tourism sector delivered by Uxbridge College.
This scheme would be suitable if you:
- Would like to work, or need help finding a work placement, in this sector in west London
- You are long-term unemployed, have been raising a family, or have been made redundant
- Need help with motivation and confidence and job search skills
- Would like to improve your skills through free training
- Are aged 20 year and over.

Response to Redundancy
FOR people age 18 years or over who have been made redundant in the last six months, or who are at risk of redundancy. This includes help with job searches and courses in many areas including IT, health and safety, and food hygiene.

Sixth Month Unemployed
People who have been out of work for six months or more can get help looking for jobs, writing CVs, getting advice and support on their job search, and getting on to training and retraining courses.
The scheme, run by Uxbridge College through the Job Centre Plus, helps support people considering working in a wide range of sectors including business administration, catering and hospitality, tourism, customer service and engineering.

Hillingdon Partnership - Support for Unemployed Parents
Uxbridge College can provide employability support for unemployed parents of any age who are receiving or eligible for benefits or tax credits, through the Hillingdon Partnership.
We aim to improve your skills level and job chances by giving you a personalised employability plan which will be completed alongside your Individual Learning Plan (ILP). You will be able to attend a series of employability sessions which help you to prepare for work.
Participants must be eligible to work in the UK and must live, work or study in a west London borough (Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, and Hounslow).

Help for Businesses
Free English language and skills for life training
IF YOU are employed in the hospitality, retail or health care sector working for a small or medium sized company in greater London you may be eligible for English language training.
The Bridge the Gap project is led by Thames Valley University (eligibility criteria apply) and offers training for speakers of other languages. The course covers essential business and personal skills including form filling, handling money and understanding English. Flexible teaching times and locations are on offer, and training is supportive and given in small friendly groups.
