Staff and students from Uxbridge College made and sold cakes to raise money on Red Nose Day. Sports students Emma Arnold (wolf) and Ashley Newman also joined in the fun.

Students and staff from Uxbridge College joined the national effort and took part in a host of fundraising activities for Red Nose Day 2011.

There were red faces as well as red noses for all those taking part in sporting events including table tennis, badminton, football kick-ups, a hula hoop challenge, and dance.

Early Years and Health & Social Care students did karaoke, sold cakes and sweets, held a sponsored silence and two boys had a leg wax.  Those on Public Services courses did a sponsored walk in fancy dress, and Travel and Sports students took part in a contest based on the ITV dating show Take Me Out.  There were also tin collections around the College all day.

Staff also made donations to come in wearing casual clothes.

Gavin Hughes, Director of Student Services at Uxbridge College, said: “Red Nose Day is a permanent feature in the College’s fundraising calendar and this year our students and staff did more than ever to make the most of it.  It’s the first time we’ve had our new sports hall and outdoor courts for this event and we really made the most of them, with so many competitions and challenges.  We’re still counting the proceeds but so far it’s looking very encouraging.”
