Comedian Simon Munnery, known in various guises including Alan Parker: Urban Warrior and The League Against Tedium, has been at Uxbridge College filming for ITV2's Comedy Cuts.

Munnery and the ITV television crew made use of a lecture room and the training kitchens at the Hayes Community Campus.

In one of the classrooms at the site off Coldharbour Lane, Hayes, for the purposes of television only, Munnery lectured on 'the propensity of things to be used' (examples of this phenomenon can be found in his New Statesman blog).

In the industry-standard kitchens, he dealt with some of the various pun-filled misunderstandings that can result from dealing with aubergines and other matters relating to trainee chefs (Uxbridge College's real trainees were busy learning from properly-qualified people).

The sketches are due to appear on ITV2 at the beginning of next year (2009) as part of the sketch show Comedy Cuts, which is currently airing on Tuesday nights with performances from some of the best-known comedians on the stand-up circuit.

Munnery (41), said: "They say you only play Hayes Community Campus twice in your career, once on the way up, once on the way down - it's good to be back" he said, never having been there before.

Hillingdon, he observed, was: "Formerly one of the dry skiing centres of North West London, (Hillingdon Ski Centre) has now closed, it's a relief to people who quite rightly loathe skiing."

Musing on the lush grass of Hayes Community Campus in Springtime, Munnery, who lives in Bedford with his wife and three daughters, evoked the following rhyme:

"The dandelions the daisies
Where are the ducks come on Hayes?"
