Professional artist helps students brighten corridors

Students have worked with a professional artist to create a display of public art to brighten the corridors of Uxbridge College.

Working on the theme of Nostalgia, the students each created a textile piece and a painting as part of their BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design.

The designs are now displayed at the Hayes Community Campus in the School of Early Years, Health and Social Care.

The project was led by Grace Adam, a working artist and lecturer who has completed a number of residencies, published papers, and exhibited internationally. She is a Fine Art Fellow of Chelsea College of Art & Design and a qualified teacher who has lectured at institutions including the Serpentine Gallery, Royal Academy, Tate Modern and Tate Britain, and London College of Fashion.

Grace said: "As a working artist I go through the creative process time and time again, so I understand its frustrations and rewards which means I can help others through it. It is really exciting working with young people, both helping them tap into their creativity and learn the technical skills needed to do their best work."
