The five students on the Advanced Diploma in Business course took part in Enterprise Challenge Day on 16 February, which was judged by Mr McQueen, who also gave a talk about his career.  The winner of BBC1’s The Apprentice in 2008 has set up Raw Talent, a project which aims to help young people succeed in business.

The 22 teams taking part had to develop a business idea to promote the 2012 Olympics, which they had to present to an audience of 150 people.

Uxbridge College’s team reached the top four places with their idea to produce a magazine for students written by students, which would be distributed in the region’s free newspapers.

Lorraine Collins, Executive Director – Enterprise and Development, at Uxbridge College, said: “This event proved a real inspiration for our business trainees who rose to the challenge impressively.

“It was also really exciting for them to meet Lee McQueen – particularly as they follow in his footsteps as students of Uxbridge College.

“Considering the team was competing against some of the best business students from 22 schools and colleges in west London, they did brilliantly to reach the top four places.”

The competition was organised by Harrow College in partnership with the Enterprise Network for colleges and sixth forms in Hillingdon, Brent, Harrow, Hounslow, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Ealing.
