“I wanted to work and train at the same time and an opportunity came up for a Customer Service Apprenticeship. At work I use many of the skills needed to get the qualification, and have also learned technical background such as employment legislation and organisational procedures.
The assessors who have overseen my apprenticeship have been very supportive and you can always get time with them if you need it, for instance to find out how you need to improve. Even though I am an apprentice, at work I am respected and treated like any other member of staff. My job role has also expanded according to my strengths – I have been given more responsibility the more my skills have improved.”
Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships are designed for people who want to train on the job and get a qualification, so you can earn as you learn. You will gain nationally recognised qualifications in your chosen industry which demonstrate your practical competence and technical knowledge alongside skills in literacy, numeracy and ICT. Apprentices study at College and also in the workplace, bringing their knowledge into their job and learning from others in the company.
