BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Art & Design
No formal entry requirements are required but you should have Entry 3 in initial literacy tests as well as basic numeracy skills.
You need to show a varied portfolio of creative work, demonstrate that you are interested in art and design and attend an interview.
Who is the course for
This one year introductory learning course in art & design is for those students who wish to develop their creative work across a range of disciplines.
The course consists of four main art & design projects and alongside these you will also study Functional Skills in English and follow a programme in personal and social development.
You will learn about:
- Drawing and painting
- Graphic design
- Print making
- 3D design
- Health and safety
- The work of other artists,designers and crafts people.
How is the course assessed
The course is continually assessed against units of study. Competence must be proved in all areas of study before the full award is granted.
Where next - Further Studies
You can progress onto specialist courses such as the Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design, Media or Production Arts where you will be given an opportunity to continue to develop your creativity, in more of the specialist areas.
