Course Content

Course units include:

  • plumbing installation and maintenance
  • wet central heating systems
  • safety in gas utilisation
  • scientific principles in gas utilisation
  • combustion and properties of gas
  • gas safety
  • the use of hand tools and workshop practices.

You will be assessed on theory and practical work and build a portfolio of evidence.

Where next - Further Studies

Apprenticeship work with a Gas Safe Registered Engineer or an HNC/D in Construction.

Where next - Job Opportunities

Gain employment in the gas industry and with additional on-site experience you can work towards becoming a Gas Safe qualified engineer and become self-employed.

Who is the course for

This qualification is for people thinking about a career in building services engineering. It gives learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment. This qualification also provides career development opportunities for those already in work, and through articulation to higher education, degree and professional development programmes.

Course Content

The 90 credit BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and a deeper specialist work-related focus.

Who is the course for

  • Plumbing 6035 Level 3 is for learners that have completed a Level 2 Plumbing 6035 programme but have not secured employment in the industry. Candidates can further their knowledge base and gain a recognised certificate, reference and report from the college.
