Who is the course for
The Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce is for learners who wish to work in the Children and Young Peoples Workforce. This qualification will be the only Level 3 QCF qualification that will confer occupational competence for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce.This qualification is available for different types of learners: those in full time employment who require little or no formal learning; those in full time employment who require some formal learning; those in full time formal learning who require experience in real work environments, those in part time formal learning who require experience in a real work environment.
Course Content
The Diploma will guide and assess development of knowledge and skills relating to Early Learning and Childcare, Social Care and the Learning Development and Support Services Workforces. Where appropriate, it also confirms competence in these areas and serves as the required qualification for all new practitioners for registration and regulatory requirements in the Children and Young Peoples Workforce.The Diploma covers the following units:
- Promote communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Engage in personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
- Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Understand child and young person development
- Promote child and young person development
- Understand how to safeguard the well being of children and young people
- Support children and young people's health and safety
- Develop positive relationships with children, young people and others involved in their care
- Working together for the benefit of children and young people
- Context and principles for early years provision
- Promote learning and development in the early years
- Promote children's welfare and well being in the early years
- Professional practice in early years settings
- Support children's speech, language and communication
Study Methods
How is the course assessed
All units are internally assessed. Assessment enables the learners workplace practice to provide evidence for individual units as well as the whole qualification. Methods of assessment could include:- Inference of knowledge from direct observation of practice
- Witness evidence when directed by the sector skills assessment strategy
- Reflection on own practice in real work situations
- Written assignments
- Learners own plans and written records
- Task set by CACHE for knowledge learning outcomes only
to obtain a pass.
