- 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including maths and English
- If you are planning to go to university for primary teacher training you will need to have science at GCSE level.
Who is the course for
This course is designed for anyone committed to pursuing a career in childcare with children aged 0 to 16 years. CACHE is the sole provider of this nationally recognised qualification; it is the equivalent of 3 A Levels and attracts UCAS points for entry to university.Course Content
The course is offered in three stages over the two years of study. All students are expected to study the full programme in order to take up employment as a qualified Level 3 childcare worker.Students will alternate between spending one week in College and one week on a practical placement.
The following units will be studied:
- An introduction to working with children
- Development from conception to age 16 years
- Supporting children
- Keeping children safe
- The principles underpinning the role of the practitioner working with children
- Promoting a healthy environment for children
- Play and learning in childrens education
- Caring for children
- Development of professional skills within childcare and education
- Nutrition and healthy food for children
- Working with babies from 0-12 months
- Developing childrens (3-8 years) communication, language and literacy skills.
- Students will also study Functional Skills as part of this course.
