Computing & Information Technology
“I came onto the HND in Computing to get a wellrounded knowledge of the subject area. I already had some experience in networking through Cisco courses and have worked in IT recruitment. I am enjoying the course as it covers the fundamentals of computing and IT to a high level and it gives a good foundation in general computing. I have also done a networking unit which has kept my skills up to scratch.
The course has given me support to build my confidence and the teachers have given me direction. I can get help from them outside of the class – they really go the extra mile.
As part of the course I went to Brunel University for a work placement in their network department and I was able to use the practical skills I have learnt. In my previous job I spoke to loads of IT professionals but now I know so much more and I can make more sense of the industry, so I could go back into it with a lot more knowledge.
I want to specialise in network engineering so I am applying for BEng courses at university and I can go straight onto the third year of a degree. I wouldn’t have got this far if I hadn’t done the HND. I hope to go to Middlesex University as they are heavily resourced for networking and have good links with the College plus they take into account previous experience.
I would recommend the College to others – there are lots of opportunities you can get from doing the HND.“
