Entry Requirements

  • Level 2 or equivalent in a related subject.
Students who do not have GCSEs in English and mathematics at grade C or above will be required to take a formal assessment in both subjects before enrolling.

ICT skills are essential. All applicants will have a pre-course interview and assessment. Students must have been out of full-time education for at least two years and have appropriate work experience.

Who is the course for

Access courses are designed for learners over the age of 19 who have been out of education for some time and do not have the formal qualifications normally required for entry to further and higher education who want to study computing and progress to university level.

  • Applying to HE.
Specialist units:
  • Mathematics
  • Networks and spreadsheets
  • Packages
  • Programming.

Study Methods

Lectures, group work, workshops, assignments, presentations and timed assessments. Students will also be expected to undertake 10-15 hours of individual study.

How is the course assessed

Assessment for each credit will involve a variety of activities, which include oral presentations, projects essays, practical class work and timed examinations.

The Level 5 HND Diploma in Computing and Systems Development at Uxbridge College, an IT-related course or a full or part-time degree at most UK universities.
