Electrical Installation

“I’ve always wanted to do something practical and I also love the theory side of what I do. There’s a lot of problem solving involved and I really enjoy that. When you do something like this you see it through from the start to the finish – you can say ‘I did that’. It gives you a sense of fulfilment. I looked at a few colleges before coming here, but this was definitely the right one for me.

You walk into a place and get a feel for it – the classroom was immaculate, the tools were ready to go, it’s fresh, it’s modern, and I liked the college straight away. The teachers are really helpful, they know their stuff, they don’t just read from text books. If you’ve got a question they know how to explain. The staff get to know our strengths and weaknesses and the best way to support us. I am the only woman in my class but it’s no problem – more women should do it, there’s no reason not to.”
