Entry Requirements

Candidates must be currently working in the electrical contracting industry, either employed or self-employed and will have either completed, be studying, or will have been accepted to study the C&G 2330 level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in Electrotechnical Technology.

The JIB does not recognise candidates with just the C&G2330 Level 3 as qualified electricians to become a qualified electrician this must be part of an apprenticeship scheme or must be accompanied by this Level 3 NVQ.

Course Content

You will follow a course of study on the following:
301: Ensure safe site working
302: Diagnose and correct electrical faults
303: Provide technical and functional information
304: Maintain a safe and healthy working environment
305: Prepare to install wiring systems, wiring enclosures and equipment
306: Install wiring systems, wiring enclosures and equipment
307: Connect wiring systems and equipment using safe and approved methods
308: Inspect, test and commission an electrical installation

Study Methods

Support with the building of a portfolio and professional discussions.

How is the course assessed

The assessor will visit the candidate at their workplace on at least 3 occasions to assess their competence. This and the evidence collected by the candidate will be in accordance to the NVQ guidelines required to complete a portfolio of competence.

After successful completion of the course structured progression is possible to professional qualification routes leading to the C&G 2382 IEE 17TH Edition Regulations, C&G2392, C&G 2391 Test & Inspection.

  • There is no formal college attendance required for this course however the assessor will invite you to attend review meetings to monitor candidates progress and any issues that may arise in the building of the portfolio. Although it is expected that the candidate completes the NVQ within one year, in special occasions the candidate may be given an extra year to complete it.
