These 1-year introductory qualifications cover 4 areas of building services engineering; Plumbing, Electrical Installation, Heating and Ventilating and Refrigeration and Air-conditioning.
Course Content
To achieve the Level 1 Certificate in Access to Building Services Engineering, learners must achieve 34 credits from the mandatory units.1. Understand and demonstrate fundamental safe working practices in BSE (Building Services Engineering).
2. Understand and demonstrate fundamental environmental protection measures within BSE.
3. Understand and demonstrate fundamental scientific principles within BSE.
4. Introduction to BSE.
5. Understand and demonstrate fundamental Refrigeration and air conditioning operations.
6. Understand and demonstrate fundamental electrical installation operations.
7. Understand and demonstrate fundamental heating and ventilation operations.
8. Understand and demonstrate fundamental plumbing operations.

Once you have successfully completed this qualification you can progress onto any of these qualifications.- 2357 Level 3 Diploma in electro-technical technology
- 6187 Level 2 and 3 NVQ Certificate/Diploma in Refrigeration and air-conditioning
- 6188 Level 3 NVQ Certificate/Diploma in heating and ventilating
- 6189 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and heating installation.
