1. City and Guilds Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Performing Engineering Operations 7582
Core Units:
  • Unit 101: Working safely in an engineering environment
  • Unit 102: Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
  • Unit 103: Using and communicating technical information.
Specialist Units:
Unit 120 Wiring electrical equipment and circuits
Unit 123 Assembling electronic circuits

2.BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Engineering (QCF)
Core Units:
  • Unit 1: Working Safely in Engineering.
Specialist Units:
  • Unit 7: Developing Skills in Electronic Assembly
  • Unit 8: Developing Skills in Wiring Electrical Circuits and Components
  • Unit 11: Starting Work in Engineering.
3.BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Supporting Employability and Personal Effectiveness (QCF)
  • Unit 1 Supporting Employability and Personal Effectiveness
  • Unit 2 Searching for a Job
  • Unit 3 Applying for a Job
  • Unit 7 Learning with Colleagues and Other Learners
  • Unit 8 Working in a Team
  • Unit 9 Producing a Product

Study Methods

Explanation of theory , practical work, portfolio building, basic research, quizzes, project work, etc.

How is the course assessed

For Performing Engineering Operations and Supporting Employability and Personal Effectiveness, candidates will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence for each unit.
For Certificate in Engineering candidates will be assessed by completing internally prepared assignments.
All the 3 component courses will be externally verified

Where next - Further Studies

Students can progress onto BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Electronics), which can further lead to higher level of study at the college.
