Entry Requirements

  • Four GCSEs at grade D or above
Or
  • An equivalent foundation course.
Students with other relevant qualifications with appropriate industry experience will be considered individually.

Who is the course for

This intermediate qualification is for people thinking about a career in building services
engineering perhaps maintaining air conditioners or working as an electrician
or a plumber.

Need some practical experience to make a career decision? This one year introductory qualification covers four areas of building services engineering:
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical installation
  • Heating and ventilating
  • Refrigeration and air-conditioning.

Course Content

To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Access to Building Services Engineering, learners must achieve 45 credits from the mandatory units.
  • Understand and demonstrate fundamental refrigeration and air conditioning operations
  • Understand and demonstrate fundamental electrical installation operations
  • Understand and demonstrate fundamental heating and ventilation operations
  • Understand and demonstrate fundamental plumbing operations
  • Carry out safe BSE working practices
  • Apply environmental protection measures within BSE
  • Roles responsibilities and procedures in BSE
  • Apply scientific principles within mechanical services engineering.
