Entry Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Foundation Learning course, in a related subject, including English and mathematics
or
  • Four GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade D, including English and mathematics
or
  • City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma with English and mathematics at Level 2.

Who is the course for

This course is for those considering a career in games development or IT. The course provides a basis for further training and can work as a primer for our BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT Games Development Pathway.

Course Content

The course is made up of seven units three core and four specialist units, which help you study an area in more depth.

Core units
  • Communicating in the IT industry
  • Working in the IT industry
  • Computer systems.
Specialist units include:
  • Computer graphics
  • Developing computer games
  • Animation techniques
  • 2D game engines.
All students study Functional Skills to enable them to improve and achieve higher grades in literacy, numeracy and IT.
