Entry Requirements

  • Four GCSEs at grade D or above, (including English and three other relevant subjects) and a genuine interest in the media industry
or
  • Successful completion of a Foundation Learning course, in a related subject, including English and mathematics.

Who is the course for

This course is for those who wish to prepare for higher level qualifications in media and for those who wish to work in the industry.

Course Content

The course consists of the following units:
  • Understanding the media
  • Research techniques
  • Video production
  • Writing for the media
  • Audio production
  • Media production project.
All students will study Functional Skills as part of this course.

Study Methods

Students will be introduced to industry standard practice by working in professional studios on location and in state of the art edit suites.

The will be working on producations in practical, theoretical and written methods delivering production portfolios and showreels or practical work.

How is the course assessed

Continual assessment across a broad range of product briefs through regular feedback and action planning in both practical and written assignments.

Where next - Further Studies

You can progress onto a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production at Uxbridge College and then onto a degree course.

Students may gain employment in the media in various media roles including and not limited to internships and running work in many professional industries
