Motor Vehicle Maintenance
“I decided to study motor vehicle maintenance as I wanted to do something different and wanted to prove that girls can be good mechanics. I am the only girl in the group but the guys are really friendly and we are like a big family.
I like the practical classes as they give you experience in using the equipment properly. The teachers treat us like adults and make sure we do things properly, but at our own pace, and they tell us stories about when they were working in garages.
I came to an open day and had a look around the facilities and I talked it over with my Mum which helped me make a decision between doing A Levels or mechanics. I didn’t really enjoy school and I wanted to come into an environment that made me feel more like an adult.
College is good – everyone is friendly. It is bigger than school which can be a bit scary but it gives you an opportunity to make new friends. I definitely made the right decision to come to college. After I have finished this course I want to go onto the Level 2 course and in the future I want to own my own garage.”
Our motor vehicle maintenance and repair courses not only give you the chance to learn the practical skills needed to work with cars, but also the theory behind it all.
Practical work is based in fully equipped workshops with all the latest technology and diagnostic equipment that provide a realistic working garage environment.
We have two modern vehicle workshops which feature vehicle lifts, electronic test equipment, a new dynamometer facility and a variety of modern cars.
Staff are committed to your success and provide advice and guidance from their years of experience working in the industry. You can start on a basic level course and progress to a high standard to enable you to go out into the workplace as a qualified technician.
