Who is the course for

This course is for those wishing to prepare for further qualifications such as the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism, and gain employment in the travel & tourism industries.

Course Content

Mandatory units:
  • The UK travel and tourism sector
  • Understanding customer service in travel and tourism
  • UK tourism destinations
  • Understanding the nature and effects of world travel.
Optional units:
  • Developing customer service skills in travel and tourism
  • European holiday destinations
  • Introduction to cruise operations
  • Exploring airports and airlines
  • Worldwide holiday destinations
  • Hospitality front office operations
  • Accommodation services in hospitality
Students will also study Functional Skills as part of this course.

Study Methods

Lectures, workshops, group work, visiting speakers, practical sessions and outside visits to provide students with a realistic view of the industry. This will include a residential stay within the UK. You will also undertake a one week work placement within the travel industry.
