Evidence of any government sponsorship will need to be provided if you are being sponsored.

Part-time fees

For the academic year 2010/11, part-time fees for international students on higher education courses are £12.50 per guided learning hours and £11.00 per guided learning hours for further education programmes. Students are also expected to pay additional costs for registration, ID, examinations and course materials.

Living in the UK

Estimated living costs in and around Uxbridge are £5,400 per annum if you are studying for a programme that is longer than 9 months and £600 per month if you are studying for a programme that is 9 months or less.

In addition to your tuition and registration fees, we advise that you bring a minimum of £300 to cover the cost of the first few weeks after arrival until you can secure a bank account. Try not to carry large sums of cash with you and instead bring traveller's cheques.

The International Student Calculator can help you plan your budget and finances when studying in the UK. Further information about the cost of living in the UK is available on the British Council website.

Opening a bank account

A bank account can be opened once you have registered with the College. There are lots of banks and building societies in Uxbridge and Hayes. Most banks in the UK open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm. Once you are ready to open a bank account, you will need to provide your chosen bank with the following documents:

  • Your passport
  • Proof of address in the UK (the College can give you a supporting letter)
  • Proof of overseas address (such as statements/letters from your bank in your home country).
