Audiences had a devil of a good time with a production by second year drama students.

The students on the BTEC National Diploma in Drama at Uxbridge College performed The Devil in Drag by Dario Fo at The Compass Theatre in Ickenham, on 14 and 15 February.

Set in Rennaissance Italy, Devil in Drag tells the story of attempts by the devil's henchmen to corrupt Judge Alfonso de Tristano, whose vocation is to right the wrongs of a criminal-infested city.

The play, crammed full of larger-than-life characters and packed with verbal and visual gags, was adapted and directed by lecturer Peter Machen, who has extensive experience in television, film and theatre.

Peter said: "Making a career in the theatre can be a challenge, and the more real experience you have got, the better. The skills you learn by putting on a play in a real theatre - including having to do the lighting, arrange the costumes and make sure you are good enough to perform in front of a paying audience - can give you a real head start."
