Vince Cable gets a grilling from Uxbridge College
Vince Cable, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party, with Uxbridge College politics students Keith Cross and Courtney Tedman, both 19.

Vince Cable, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party, took questions from students at Uxbridge College on 14 May.

Dr Cable, MP for Twickenham and the man widely known for having predicted the credit crunch, spoke to A Level Politics and Business students.

Topics included the credit crunch, the MPs' expenses row, and beekeeping, in which Dr Cable has a particular interest.

He also talked to students about the history and policies of the Liberal Democrats.

Dr Cable said afterwards: "These students are certainly very bright and we had some tough, searching questions. I am sure they could have kept me going for at least another hour."

Julian Thomas, Government and Politics Lecturer, said: "It is a real privilege to have such a high profile visitor as Vince Cable at Uxbridge College to balance the talks we have had from people from other political backgrounds. I was really impressed by how confidently our students dealt with such a well-known and experienced politician. I reckon a couple of them could do quite well on Question Time - or even Prime Minister's Question Time one day."
