Students from Uxbridge College who took part in a national business competition have been recognised for their financial skills.
The team were given the Financial Whizz Award in the London regional finals of the Make Your Mark Challenge. Their idea was for a talent agency called Talent 'iN' Town (TNT) which would showcase local talent in and around Hillingdon borough.
The team - made up of five students on the BTEC National Diploma in Business - competed against nine teams from across the capital in the London regional finals on 26 November.
Teams who enter the national Make Your Mark Challenge have one day to come up with a sustainable business idea which they have to present in front of a Dragon's Den-style panel of judges.
TNT were chosen after internal heats at Uxbridge College, in which 24 students on the BTEC First Diploma in Business and the BTEC National Diploma in Business took part.
Swaran Johal, Curriculum Manager at Uxbridge College, in Park Road, Uxbridge, said: "Financial planning is one of the most difficult aspects of the competition so we are particularly pleased to have been recognised for excellence in this area. The Make Your Mark Challenge was a great opportunity for students to use their skills to be really creative and learn more about leadership, team work, project planning and management, problem solving and financial capability."
Mary Curnock Cook OBE, Director, Qualifications and Skills, Qualifications and Curriculum Authority said: "The Make Your Mark Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved with business and enterprise and to show what they are capable of achieving. QCA supports the thousands of young people involved this year."
The students' prize was a Rowan tree which will be planted in the College grounds.
