Coming to College is an exciting time – you have the chance to meet new people, learn new things and take advantage of new opportunities
Work hard, play hard
Socialising is important and we have an exciting range of social events to ensure College isn’t just about laptops and lectures!
You also have the chance to get involved in student governance and help shape student activities and policies.
Relax and refresh
When you want time to relax and socialise with friends there are social spaces for you to head to. Activities on offer include table tennis, a range of games to play, TV and DVDs. You can also pick up useful information for all sorts of issues.
There are lots of things going on that you can get involved in including clubs and societies, sports activities, volunteering and charity fundraising events.
Take advantage of some great trips and social events – you can even get involved in suggesting and deciding what happens. Events have included a Bollywood day, music and drama performances, fashion shows and art and design exhibitions – all showcasing our students’ work.
Healthy body, healthy mind
Want to give your mind and body a workout? If you want to stay healthy, keeping fit is easy! ou can sign up for the brand new fitness centre, plus get involved in the many free sports activities on offer. Students have taken part in activities including netball, 5-a-side football, street dance, table tennis and basketball. If you love football, cricket or basketball, why not join one of our Sports Academies?
We run a volunteering programme offering a range of internal and external posts doing all kinds of activities. These are a chance to make new friends, learn new skills and best of all enhance your CV or UCAS application. You’ll receive a certificate and award for your time donated.
Get your voice heard
At Uxbridge College, students’ views are important and we encourage you to share your views. Focus groups and questionnaires play an important part in communicating students’ views and there will be opportunities for you to take part.
You can sign up to be a tutor rep to have your say and represent others in your class. We also have a Student Council, made up of ten elected tutor reps, who represent students on the College’s Corporation (governing board) and help to shape College life in and out of the classroom.
Join the NUS
Uxbridge College students can become members of the National Union of Students. As one of the largest student organisations in the world, the NUS represents the interests of around five million college and university students in the UK.
