Photographers were rewarded for their work in a competition held at Uxbridge College.
The student and staff competition attracted 75 entries in the three categories, landscape, cityscape and people.
The overall winner - judged by the Gazette's Chief Photographer Chris Berry - was Marta Parszeniew (17), who is studying GCSEs at the College, based in Park Road, Uxbridge.
Students also got involved by judging the staff competition, and the student category winners and runners up were judged by staff.
Marta, who lives in Hanwell and took a creative self-portrait, said: "I am so happy to win, I did not feel very confident about my work so this is a surprise - but a very nice one."
Chris, who presented the prizes, a £120 Jessops photographic store voucher, and photography books for runners up, said: "It was very difficult to judge the winners as not only were all the pictures so good, but there was a real range of photographic styles. I was particularly impressed by the quality of lighting in some of the photos, but I had to pick the overall winner because the picture was so unusual and striking - I have never seen a picture like it."
Diane Reade, Enrichment and Achievement Officer at Uxbridge College, said: "Having Chris Berry's expertise really gave an edge to the competition and he also gave some useful tips to students. This was a great opportunity for students and staff from all over the College to do something creative and in many cases step out of their subject areas."
