Footballers from Uxbridge College took part in an FA event held to promote refereeing skills. The players from Uxbridge College Football Academy 1st and 2nd teams provided the action for referees training under London and Middlesex FA at the media day on 19 June.
The event, which attracted media from Sky and the BBC, was led by Ian Blanchard, the FA's Head of National Referee Development.
The football took place at Hillingdon Athletics Stadium off Gatting Way, Uxbridge, which is used by the College and other schools and teams from the area. Briefings and theory presentations took place in the conference suite at the College in Park Road, Uxbridge.
The players from the Football Academy are studying BTEC Sports courses, engineering and business subjects.
Dan Lloyd, Head of Sport, Leisure & Public Services, said: "It was great for our players to get a chance to work with the FA and learn more about the importance of expert refereeing. As well as the professional coaching they get in the Academy, this kind of event helps provide a stepping stone to playing for teams such as Grimsby and Maidenhead."
