Students from Uxbridge College helped out at an event taking elderly people Christmas shopping and for a festive lunch. The 38 students on the BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care were among volunteers at the annual day out for elderly people from all over Hillingdon.
After a morning's shopping, the 70 guests and helpers met back at St Margaret's Church in Windsor Street, Uxbridge, for lunch.
Debbie Weston, Health and Social Care Lecturer at Uxbridge College, said: "Health and Social Care is all about helping people live as full lives as possible, so it was a terrific opportunity for our students to make a contribution. They learned so much in just one day by taking their guests out and about for the Christmas shopping day."
The Assisted Shopping Day took place on 26 November and was run by a number of organizations including Hillingdon Council, St Margaret's Church, Shopmobility, and The Chimes and Mall Pavillions Shopping Centres.
