Uxbridge College has cemented its reputation for business excellence by becoming a winner in the national Best Business Awards.
The College was chosen by judges as the Best Further & Higher Education Provider for its innovative training programmes and community partnerships in the local and regional business sector.
Uxbridge College joins previous Best Business Award winners including Sky, Barclays, and EDF Energy Networks. Winners have to show their organisation offers value to business and stands out across the board in terms of strategy and service delivery. Among the achievements recognised are creative campaigns, outstanding services, successful community partnerships and professional commitment.
The College’s Best Business Award recognises its excellent work with employers and successful partnerships with business and the community.
The judges praised projects including:
* A market research project in The Mall Pavilions shopping centre designed and implemented by students
* An innovative engineering Apprenticeship scheme run in partnership with British Airways
* A programme which recognises the contribution of business to the local and regional community – the Uxbridge College Employer Champion Scheme.
The College, which already holds the national Training Quality Standard award for providing high-quality responsive training to employers, works with more than 700 businesses.
It provides training and support in a wide range of vocational areas including business, retail engineering, computing & IT, health and social care, catering and hospitality, and leisure and tourism.
Commenting on the Best Further and Higher Education Provider award to Uxbridge College, Andrew Areoff, Chairman of the Judges, said: “With 40 years’ experience, Uxbridge College has recently developed a number of strategic and innovative partnerships with major employers that put the College at the heart of the community. Among the partnerships are an apprenticeship programme with British Airways, an Employer Champion Scheme and a close link-up with Uxbridge’s Mall Pavilions Shopping Centre including research into the shopper experience. Such sustained engagement with the local community, and responsiveness to the needs of local employers show Uxbridge College is at the forefront of best practice in contemporary education.”
Laraine Smith, Principal of Uxbridge College, said: “This national award consolidates Uxbridge College’s position providing forward-looking, creative and relevant support to business. We are honoured to be recognised in this way as leaders in serving employers, the community and individual learners. We will continue to build on our successes by enabling those around us to meet their economic, social and personal needs.”
