The BBC’s annual charity push prompted long-haired staff member Mike Wells to undergo a radical change of style, while Basic Education students baked and sold cakes.
Mike, a member of the College’s support staff, raised more than £400 through sponsorship after having his locks shorn in Distinction Hair & Beauty Salons at the Hayes Community Campus.
During the haircut he briefly sported a ‘mullet’, a men’s style in which the front and sides are short, and the back long. Famous wearers have included Paul McCartney in Wings in the 1970s, David Bowie during his Ziggy and the Spiders Tour, and in the 1980s Limahl, Bono and Simon Le Bon.
The cakes sold to staff and students in The Mall at Uxbridge campus raised £84.
