The two organisations have formalised a partnership to bring QPR’s expertise to Uxbridge College and give the club access to young players.
Since August 2011 QPR in the Community Trust have been working with Uxbridge College to help to deliver their Football Programme.
Trials were held in August and 40 players (20 in each squad) selected to represent the College through Uxbridge College Football Academy.
Throughout the year, QPR offer the College the following:
* A coach from the QPR Centre of Excellence (Stephen McCarthy) to work with the signed players
* Job opportunities / work experience
* Guest speakers to deliver tutorial sessions
* Opportunities to watch QPR First Team and QPR U18s
* Links with our own Centre of Excellence for any outstanding players.
As part of the scheme, all players in the football squad must be hitting academic targets in order to attend training and games.
Dan Lloyd, Head of Sport, Travel and Public Services, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to get some top-level training and benefit from our links with QPR in many other ways too.
“Many of the students on the programme are on sports courses - however they can be studying any subject and still get involved.”
