A panel of judges headed by the new Mayor and Mayoress of Hillingdon met to complete the tricky task of choosing the borough’s Local Heroes.
The Mayor Councillor Allan Kauffman and Mayoress Mrs Lynne Kauffman joined Uxbridge College Principal Laraine Smith OBE, and Gazette Editor Alan Hayes, to select this year’s finalists.
The winners of the competition, which is run by Uxbridge College and the Gazette newspapers, will be revealed at the gala awards night on 6 June.
Laraine Smith OBE, Principal of Uxbridge College, said: “This year’s Local Heroes judging was a real challenge to all of us on the panel – there is such a huge range of groups and individuals doing amazing things in Hillingdon that picking the winners was very difficult indeed. However, after some serious wrangling we somehow managed to complete the task and are now looking forward to honouring them at the gala awards night.”
The awards night will be held at Uxbridge College in Hayes, with refreshments provided by professional cookery students in Revisco restaurant.
