Members of community groups including Hillingdon Carers, Refugee Effective and Active Partnership and Catholic Children’s Society enjoyed some rest and relaxation at a two day event at Uxbridge College.
The visitors to the College’s Distinction Hair & Beauty Salon, and Revisco training restaurant, took advantage of the half price treatments and special offer lunches as part of the exclusive package.
During the event, held to give people who had not used the facilities before a chance to come along, visitors enjoyed treatments including manicures, massages and haircuts, and a freshly cooked lunch. Distinction and Revisco, which are normally open to the public, were closed to other visitors during the two days.
The event was led by Bernadette Keating, PA to the Director of Employment and Skills at Uxbridge College. She will be using evidence of the tasks involved in organising the event as well as its successful outcome in the HNC Diploma in Business she is studying for at College alongside her work.
Bernadette said: “This event was a real success with nearly 50 people who had never been to the College’s hair and beauty salons or restaurant coming along. They obviously had a great time because comments on our feedback forms included ‘amazing’, ‘very professional’ and ‘feel like a new person’. It also gave the students ample opportunities to use their skills on real clients, which boosted their confidence and gave them assessment opportunities.”
Following the success of the event, the College now plans to make this an annual event. If your community group would be interested in attending the next event, please contact Bernadette on 01895 853705.
