Students completed a half marathon for charity, navigating from the Park Road campus to Gerrards Cross and back raising sponsorship for Cancer Research UK.
Around 60 students on Uniformed Public Services courses – which prepare young people to join the British Forces, emergency services, or go to university – took part in the event on Wednesday 15 October and expect to raise at least £1,600.
The event was part of an annual fundraising effort in memory of David Keating. David was a Public Services student who tragically died of cancer at the age of 17 in 2007 and whose memory has been marked at Uxbridge College in various ways since then
Alison White, Uniformed Public Services Course Team Leader, said: “This was a great performance from all the students with some of them running the full 13 miles! As well as covering the distance they had to work in teams to support each other, map read, navigate, and fundraise. I look forward to collecting the sponsorship money on behalf of Cancer Research UK in memory of David Keating.”
