Ideal Home 2017 DancersCreative Arts students at Uxbridge College have been celebrating success in a range of areas, from a job offer at the music studios used by famous artists including Adele, to gaining places on prestigious dance and music degrees.

The recent news from Media and Performing Arts students reflects some of the real-world professional opportunities and potential routes to Higher Education on offer at College.

Among these were: a music technology student offered a job at the famous Eastcote Studios in Kensal Green following a work experience placement; two short films featured on www.1000londoners.com; a video for the voluntary organisation Hillingdon Play Association; places secured on degree courses at De Montfort University and the Creative Academy, and the 2nd year dance students have been shortlisted to perform at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance and Music.

- Second year music technology student Jujhar Sidhu was offered a job at Eastcote Studios in Kensal Green West London, which has worked with high profile artists including Adele, Duran Duran, Mark Ronson, Mumford & Sons and Tom Jones.

- The short films ‘Fagee’ and ‘Blaise’ - named after the Londoners who are the subject of the videos and made by two teams of BTEC Level 3 Media Production students - have been featured on www.1000londoners.com. The project was facilitated by professional filmmakers from Chocolate Films.

- Another documentary film, this time by BTEC Level 3 Creative Media students, was made for Hillingdon Play Association for its annual meeting. ‘Play through the ages in Hayes’ received recognition from the Association's Chair John McDonnell, MP for Hayes and Harlington and Shadow Chancellor.

- Agnelo Do Rego, a second year UAL Level 3 Music Technology student, received an Unconditional place at De Montfort University on a degree in Music Technology.

- Second year dancer Pippa Rose Luckett auditioned for dance conservatoire Creative Academy and was offered an Unconditional place on their degree course in dance.

- Dance lecturer Chrissie Viney submitted a video of a contemporary dance piece choreographed by her and performed by second year BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts dancers (pictured) for the U.Dance competition at Trinity Laban.

Jonathan Parish, Head of Creative Arts at Uxbridge College, said: “This is a really great set of achievements by our Creative Arts students and shows just how much Uxbridge College has to offer in the way of opportunities related to Higher Education, employment and the community. The combination of our excellent facilities and teaching, links with the creative industries and great location in West London make us a brilliant choice for all the creative arts subjects.”

‘Fagee’ by Tom Carroll, James Newcombe, Ben Ah-Time, Daya Bjarj, tells the story of the street dancer, choreographer and director of the charity Wembley Futures, and ‘Blaise’, by Mateusz Mirczewski, Bartosz Wisniewski, and Olivia Hannay, is about the founder of Make a Difference Entertainment, a charity giving young people in London opportunities by teaching them how to create digital content.
