You must be 19 years or above with a relevant Level 2 qualification. You will need to have GCSEs in English and maths at grade (grade C) or Level 2 functional skills. If not, you will take a formal entry in those subjects. You will have a College interview and may also be required to sit an Access test.
Pursue a career in caring for others or go into nursing with this one year intensive course. Develop all the skills you need to apply for higher education. Access courses are suitable for those that have been out of education for some time and prepare you for higher education.
This course is a one year intensive course for mature students. Course units include:
Full time, a minimum of 4 days a week at the Uxbridge Campus
A variety of assessment methods are used to assess students, for example - group discussions, tutorials, lectures, role play, controlled assessments, PowerPoint presentations, observations and professional discussions. The qualification you will receive on completion of this Access course is the Access to Higher Education (Health and Care Professions) Diploma. In order to qualify and complete this course you will need to achieve 60 credits, of which 45 will have to be from Level 3 units and the remaining 15 are optional.
Degree programmes at university in nursing (all branches), midwifery, paramedic science, occupational therapy, operating department practice, social work, psychology or any other undergraduate health or social care-related course.
You can go directly into employment as a care worker in a hospital, nursing home or care home.
