GCSE English and Maths at grade C (grade 4/5) or above (or equivalent) Merit in HNC Level 4 in relevant field. Knowledge of 3D applications with an interest in games development. Portfolio of work developed. All students who are non-native English speakers and who have not undertaken their final two years of schooling in English must demonstrate capability in English at a standard equivalent to IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5 or equivalent.
This course is for those who wish to pursue a career in games development, focusing on a wide range of aspects including games theory, games design, 3D modelling, 3D animation, rendering, level design and games development. Students will be taught a range of industry-standard applications and techniques to assist in the design and creation of a fully functional 3D game environment in a team based workflow.
On this course you will cover a wide variety of theoretical and practical development skills. The fundamentals are covered during this course, including such units as;
Collaborative Project – Pearson Set (Core)
Personal Professional Development (Core)
Advanced Game Development Practices (Core)
Advanced Rendering & Visualisation (Optional)
Advanced Animation (Optional)
Advanced 3D Modelling (Optional)
This course is classroom taught through 15 hours per week over 3 days, with a range of lectures, group work, presentations and workshops. Students are expected to complete approximately 15 hours per week of independent study (i.e. on research, Additional practice on practical skills and completing assignments)
Assessment is through a series of assignments and projects (individual and group based) which makes a 100% of the grade.
Upon successful completion and approval, students will have an opportunity to progress onto a Top-up degree in a University in a similar field of study i.e. Games Development, Games Design, 3D Modelling & Animation, Graphic Design and Games Art.
The Games and TV/Film industries are a constantly expanding environment, with job roles developing to cover a broader range of skills and technologies. With jobs in such areas as; animation visualisation, level design, game design, game development, 3D modelling, 3D animation and character design.

An optional visit / trip is available on the course, you do not have to participate in order to complete the qualification. The cost of the trip is £2,000 (this must be paid at enrolment), this is in addition to the fee stated above for this course.
The fees quoted are for home and overseas students for one year of study and include tuition, exam and materials fees. The tuition fee for the second year of two year programmes will be the same as the first year. First year students must also pay £5 for an ID card (which gives access to the college and facilities e.g. library) and £35 for college registration.
