Functional Skills Maths (Pre GCSE): Level 2 - PT Evening
You would normally need to have a Level 1 Functional Skills Maths or equivalent. However, there are no set entry requirements. Before starting the course, you will be assessed for suitability and to agree the level you can study. Prior qualifications will be used where appropriate.
Who is the course for
This course is for students who need to improve their maths skills. Achieving a Functional Maths Level 2 can open up a wide range of new opportunities including promotion at work, university entrance, apprenticeships, training courses (teaching/accountancy) or access courses. In addition, you will acquire skills which you can apply in many aspects of your everyday life.
"Functional Skills Maths at Level 2. The syllabus content can be found on the Edexcel website (www.edexcel.org.uk). Main topics covered are:
Using numbers and the number system – whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages Using common measures, shapes and space Handling information and data"

How is the course assessed
"You will be regularly assessed during your course and receive feedback to help you develop the skills required for the external exams.
Functional Maths Level 2 is assessed in 2 parts:
Section A: Non-calculator 25 minutes - 16 marks = 25% overall Section B: Calculator 1 hour 30 minutes - 48 marks = 75% overall "
