Being on the Teacher Training study programme at Uxbridge College has been a very rewarding and worthwhile experience in that after many years of working in further education, I now have a recognised qualification in a profession that I love and enjoy.
The study programme was very relevant to my needs as an in-service trainee teacher, as it created opportunities for me to continuously reflect on my practice and to then use the knowledge gained to improve my teaching skills. It was rewarding to see the improvement in my teaching skills as I progressed from year 1 to year 2.
Yes, the experience was not without its own challenges! I have had to combine my full time teaching and assessing role with the demands of the course which was not easy, but overall a worthwhile experience which taught me the discipline of time management and resilience.
I must commend the excellent support and guidance from my lecturers, the assigned mentor and peers who were constant reminders that I am not alone on this exciting and invaluable learning journey.
