Easier Route to Engineering Degrees
Top L-R: Judith O'Neill, Director, Uxbridge College; Graeme Hall, Executive Director, WLLLN; Darrell DeSouza, Vice Principal, Uxbridge College; Richard Leach, Director of HE, TVU. Sitting L-R: Rose-Margaret Beckley, Field Leader of Engineering, TVU; Zafar Khan, Head of Engineering, Uxbridge College.

Students will have a clearer route in to Engineering degrees following a new agreement between Uxbridge College and Thames Valley University.

Students taking the 14-19 Advanced Diploma will be treated the same as those taking A Levels when they apply for Engineering degrees, following the Progression Agreement arranged by West London Lifelong Learning Network (WLLLN).

TVU will provide at least 10 places for students who complete the Diploma in Engineering from Uxbridge.

TVU will also provide individual feedback to all unsuccessful applicants from Uxbridge if requested.

Zafar Khan said: "It gives our students peace of mind to know that they have a guaranteed place at university when they complete engineering courses at Uxbridge College provided they meet the criteria."

Graeme Hall, Executive Director, WLLLN, said: "This Progression Agreement is a clear guide to the guaranteed options available to learners wanting to progress to Higher Education from the HND, BTEC and 14-19 Engineering Diploma at Uxbridge College.

"It provides the framework around which the College and its University partner can build a closer relationship which will result in a more tailored, focussed and comprehensive support structure to ensure more learners progress to, and succeed in, Higher Education."

The agreement was signed on 27 January 2010 by Rose-Margaret Beckley, Field Leader of Engineering, TVU, and Zafar Khan, Head of Engineering School, Uxbridge College.
