This qualification covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for preparing to work in the hairdressing industry.

- Working with in the hair industry
- Health and safety
- Client consultation
- Shampoo and condition the hair & scalp
- Promote products and services
- Cut women's hair
- Colour and lighten hair
- The art of dressing hair
- Create an image
- Plaiting and twisting hair .
Centres and providers work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers.
This practically based training is ideal preparation for training on the job or specialist further study.

Entry requirements
An interview to assess suitability for the course and a test for adequate language, literacy and numeracy skills. This qualification is aimed at you if you are looking start a career as a hairdresser. This qualification is suitable for anyone over the age of 16 years and no prior qualifications are needed.

Who is the course for?
If you pursue a diploma in Hairdressing, you'll learn the skills to succeed in your area - for women's hairdressing.
This course is suitable if you are just starting out in hairdressing or have some knowledge and basic skills in the industry. -
How is the course assessed?
You learn at College through practical sessions, group discussions or assignments. You'll have access to a realistic hairdressing environment where you'll practise and demonstrate your skills.
You will be assessed by tutors and assessors, using assignments, practical hairdressing tasks and online tests. -
